United Kingdom, 4 billion pounds for medium and large scale projects in Albania

TIRANA, March 18 /ATA/ The British Ambassador in Tirana, Alastair King-Smith, participated in the Conference organized in Tirana, which explored investment opportunities in the green energy sector in Albania.

He chaired a panel of experts, which included David Stadtmann, from the London-based company, ERG International UK, Sean Burnage, from the British Department of Export Financing and Flonia Tashko from the British Chamber of Commerce in Albania.

They looked into the ways how British expertise and investment in renewable energy can bring benefits to Albania, the United Kingdom and the world at large.

The United Kingdom has provided £4 billion for medium and large-scale projects in Albania, implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and municipalities across the country.

In attendance of this conference was the British Chamber of Commerce in Albania, BCCA, which was launched by the Foreign Secretary in October 2023 to bring together businesses in Albania and the United Kingdom to make the most of the extraordinary potential for trade and investment between the two countries and shift the focus of local and international business to the north of Albania.

Trade volume has doubled in the past year and UK tourists to Albania are up 30% in January 2024 compared to January 2023, paving the way for predictions for record tourism this year.
