PM Rama: Work on construction Bilça Bridge in Berat proceeding apace

TIRANA, March 7 /ATA/ – Work continues full steam ahead to complete construction of the so-called Bilça Bridge, one of the strategic investment projects in the museum city of Berat, a UNESCO world heritage site in south-western Albania.

Prime Minister Edi Rama on Thursday shared images of the ongoing construction work, saying the bridge will bring rural areas to the urban regions.

“Work on construction of the Bilça Bridge is progressing apace, one of the most challenging projects currently underway in the city, a UNESCO world heritage site, which is nearing completion day by day and which will bring countryside closer to the urban areas,” PM Rama said via the social media

The new structure will further enrich and expand the tourist offer of Berat, a top tourist destination in Albania.

The Bilça Bridge project is being implemented through partnership with the Albanian Development Fund and the grants provided by the European Union through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

The 268-meter long and 12.4-meter wide bridge project includes sidewalks and bike lanes.
