Health Minister: Doctors, nurses to receive new pay rise in July

TIRANA, March 5 /ATA/ –  The Minister of Health and Social Protection Albana Koçiu said Tuesday that the government is committed to improving and further increasing wages for doctors and health workers and expanding the hospital and care services across the country.

In her remarks at a meeting with young physicians and nurses, who have joined the country’s health system in the first two months of the year, Koçiu affirmed that more than 18 000 health system workers will see their monthly wages increasing again in July 2024.

“The wages of doctors, nurses and all health workers have increased by over 70% and their wages will keep increasing. In 2024 we will raise monthly wages for family doctors and nurses. More than 18000 health workers will receive new pay rise in July this year,” Health Minister confirmed.

Koçiu said that two online portals “Doctors for Albania” and “Nurses for Albania” are true evidence of the Ministry of Health efforts to build a merit-based, transparent and competitive employment system.

According to her, it is thanks to such a system that a growing number of doctors and nurses have joined the health system in the last few years.

“More than 6000 doctorsand nurses have joined our public health system in the last 4 or 5 years under the merit-based platform,” Health Minister said
