TIRANA, March 4 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) General Manager, Stacy. A. Cummings said on Monday that Kuçova is already a modern station for NATO operations in the Western Balkans.
At the ceremony organized on the occasion of the opening of the NATO air base in Kuçovë, Cummings said that the works were completed within the expected time line and in accordance with the initial budget.
” Kuçova Air Base contacted us for the design and service to work side by side with Albania and Italian contractors and with the invaluable support of the local authorities of Albania we offered excellent quality works, with materials of NATO standards. The works were completed within the expected time frame and the initial budget, a truly challenging achievement considering the inflation during the implementation of the project,” she said.
According to her, modernization works include the restoration of a control tower as well as a control room and spaces that provide storage and lighting.
“This has been the execution of the first NATO investment program in Albania and NSPA is proud to have provided efficient and timely support for Albania to take this step in infrastructure, not only for the host country, but also for Alliance per se,” she said.
Cummings announced that “as the lead agency for acquisitions at the international level for systems support in NATO, we demonstrate our capacity to act on complex and urgent projects.”
“Building on this cornerstone, we look forward to expanding the partnership in Albania, extending the range of acquisitions of logistics infrastructure, as well as the support of operations and various services. NSPA is ready to increase international capacities and strengthen the ability of the Alliance to fulfill its basic tasks for the prevention of crises, their management for collective security”, she said.
