Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by the political leader of the district of Elbasan, Damian Gjiknuri and the mayor of Elbasan Gledian Llatja, was on Saturday at the construction site to see first-hand the construction of the new ultra-modern platform, which will add to Albania another engine for its economy, new horsepower for its tourism industry.
Prime Minister Rama said that it is expected that the first competition will take place in 2027, while he also requested the design and implementation of a project in parallel to improve the landscape, investment in promenades, or internal infrastructure, to turn it into a global project.
“If we expect the first race to take place in 2027, we must look at it not only from the technical point of view of the circuit itself, but also from the point of view of the landscape. All this work will be about a big promotion for Albania. At the same time, a project must be made for all the layout of surrounding area, which are part of the picture, including houses, hills, tree planting. Upgrading the image, the exterior is needed to create a picture of an attractive place,” said Rama.
According to him, considering that up to 100,000 people will come to watch the races, all the road segments leading to this spot need to have high aesthetic standards.
The Prime Minister informed that in advance there will be other races such as Formula 2, or Automotive Festivals that will in some way also test the Automotopark.
This project is a new quality space for increasing road safety, but also an extraordinary new opportunity for motor sports, as well as high-profile international activities, which are expected to bring from all over the world the fans of FORMULA UNO.
