DP chairman reiterates support for SPAK to investigate corrupt officials

TIRANA, Feb 22 /ATA/ – Chairman of the Democratic Party Lulzim Basha reiterated Thursday his party support for the Special Prosecution Against Corruption and Organized Crime office (SPAK) and the new justice bodies in Albania.

“We support SPAK to look into corrupt officials and bring them to justice. We say no to the amnesty for corrupt officials, but we support amnesty for ordinary citizens,” Basha said in his remarks at his party’s electoral assembly in Administrative Unit 9 in Tirana.

According to Basha, “facing Edi Rama and his government requires courage, determination and clarity.”

“That’s why we are here to say yes to vetting the politicians, verification of their integrity, their inappropriate connections and their wealth and removal from politics of everyone who fails to pass the politicians vetting test. We are here to say no to the parliamentary immunity for lawmakers,” Basha stated.

Commenting on the electoral reform, he said that DP supports the open candidate lists so that Albanian citizens can elect their preferred candidates for lawmakers.
