TIRANA, Feb 20 /ATA/ The protest called by the “Re-establishment” group and the United Opposition Federation is taking place on the “Martyrs of the Nation” boulevard on Tuesday.
A part of the “Reestablishment” supporters gathered at the headquarters of this group before starting their march towards the “Dëşhmorët e Kombit” Boulevard to converge with the rest of the protesters.
The protest is led by Gazment Bardhi, chairman of the DP parliamentary group and Flamur Noka, Secretary General of “Reestablishment.” Meanwhile the former Prime Minister Sali Berisha who is under the security measure of “house arrest” as part of investigation by SPAK about the privatization of the former “Partizani” complex is absent.
There are over 1,100 police forces on standby to maintain public order before, during and after the protest. The State Police have permitted the leaders of “Reestablishment” to protest up to 4 hours, while the security measures have been beefed up close to central govt. institutions, such as the seat of the Council of Ministers, in front of which this protest will take place. The road axes near “Dëşhmorët e Kombit” Boulevard have been closed off as part of the police measures.
This is the first protest staged by “Reestablishment” together with the Federation of the united opposition. The Democratic Party led by Lulzim Basha did not join this protest.
