TIRANA, Jan 28 /ATA/ Ismail Kadare, the colossus of Albanian literature, celebrates his 88th birthday today.
State dignitaries in the country took to their social media account wishing him a Happy Birthday.
Begaj: Kadare, our solid and beautiful bridge with the west
President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, conveyed his congratulations to the writer, calling him a solid and beautiful bridge between us and the West.
“Long live our great writer, Ismail Kadare! His wonderful literary universe introduced Albania to the West, through Illyria, Balkan legends, Homer in Albanian epics and Aeschylus in the dramas of modern times. Kadare is a solid and beautiful bridge between us and the West”, President Begaj writes.
Nikolla: Kadare, emblem of Albanian literature, culture and civilization
Parliament Speaker, Lindita Nikolla, conveyed her congratulatory message to Ismail Kadare. Nikolla described him as an emblem of Albanian literature, culture and civilization.
“Today is the birthday of the writer Ismail Kadare, emblem of Albanian literature, culture and civilization. For more than seven decades, Kadare has created a literary, cultural and national treasure, which elevated Albanian literature to the Olympus of world literature.
It is rare to find another example in literature when one writer’s work spans all eras, from the misty times of mythology to the most recent season of his nation and planet.
Long live our outstanding writer!”, she writes in her message.
Rama wishes Kadare: May you live another 100 years
Prime Minister Edi Rama congratulated the writer Ismail Kadare on his 88th birthday.
Rama shared on his social media account highlights of his life at different times, accompanied by a song, featuring the verses of his poem “In the leaves-covered park.”
“Dedicated to the writer “Honor of the Nation,” Ismail Kadare. May you leave another 100 years,” Prime Minister Rama says in his post.
Gonxja: Kadare, one of the most brilliant contemporary writers ever
Even the Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, congratulated Kadare on Sunday, calling him one of the most brilliant contemporary writers.
“Kadare is one of the most brilliant contemporary writers, several times nominated for the “Nobel” prize in literature. His contribution is an insight into the depth of Albanian culture and history, creating works that defy time and offering an impressive perspective. Happy Birthday master!”, the minister says.

In a post on social media, the Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj congratulated the genius of Albanian letters.
“Happy birthday to the colossus of Albanian literature Ismail Kadare”, writes Veliaj.
Kumbaro: Long live the writer who was born… in the City of the Stone Chronicle
Even the Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, congratulated the great writer.
“Long live the writer who was born today, no matter how many years ago… in the City of the Chronicle in stone!” Kumbaro says.
Kumbaro also posted photos of the house museum of Kadare in Gjirokastër.
