TIRANA, Jan 17 /ATA/ – The Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Albania, Ambassador Silvio Gonzato, visited Wednesday the museum city of Gjirokaster, a UNESCO heritage site in southern Albania.
“Gjirokaster reconfirmed my belief the EU integration progress of Albania is a local reality,” the EU Ambassador said in a post on the social media.
Ambassador Gonzato expressed gratitude for the hospitality to the Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro, and Gjirokaster Mayor Flamur Golemi.
“Meeting them was essential for me to better understand Gjirokaster’s struggles and opportunities,” he said.
“Now it is time to turbo-charge the EU-funded projects and much-needed reforms in the field of environment, local governance and social inclusion. A World Heritage site, this beautiful city belongs to the EU family,” EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato said.
