PM Rama: Year of Forests, forestation, care and education programmes

TIRANA, Jan 16 /ATA/ – The government of Albania has declared 2024 as the Year of the Forests, an ambitious project to expand the forest and tree cover across the country.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared Tuesday photos featuring forests across Albania, saying “these images should be source of inspiration for forestation, care and education projects for an entire year.

The Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro, and the Minister of State for the Local Government Arbjan Mazniku, unveiled an array of events as part of the National Forests Year designed to raise awareness and expand the forest and tree cover throughout Albania.

The Minister of Tourism and Environment underlined the need for forestation plans and raising awareness of the public about this national treasure.

The forestation campaigns were launched two months ago in a number of municipalities across the country.

“The objectives of 2024 as the Year of Forests are part of a much broader programme not limited on tree planting only. The protected areas, the nature and mountainous tourism are at their heyday,” Kumbaro said.
