PRISTINA, Jan 13 /ATA/ – The President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani stated at a meeting with the visiting European Parliament’s Rapporteur for the country, Viola von Cramon, renewed the appeal to the European Union to lift its punitive measures, saying the measures are unjust and they are causing disparity in the position of both sides in the dialogue process.
She said that Kosovo is committed to implementing the agreements reached with Serbia during the EU-facilitated dialogue.
The meeting focused on the latest developments in the country, the security situation and the country’s progress on path towards the European integration.
Osmani also put emphasis on the importance that the EU takes further steps forward by granting Kosovo the candidate country status.
The European Union imposed a series of punitive measures against the government of Kosovo for failing to take measures towards de-escalation of the situation in the country’s north.
The EU has temporarily suspended the work of the bodies under the Association-Stabilization Agreement and the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA).
Other punitive measures against Kosovo include the disapproval of projects under the Investment Fund in the Western Balkans, as well as the suspension of meetings at political levels.
