Balluku: Tirana-Durrës highway to have three lanes as well as an emergency one

TIRANA, Jan 8 /ATA/ Deputy Prime Minister, also Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, stated on Monday that the Tirana-Durres highway will have 3 lanes and an emergency lane.

At the press conference on the developments in infrastructure during last year, but also the projects for this year, Balluku emphasized that in the upcoming 5 years the entire road network will be integrated with each other and the traffic flows will be well regulated, as the construction of the Kashar-Lekaj axis will also kick off this year.

“The Tirana – Durrës highway is one of the most important axes, but in the future this axis will be used less than today, since even today most of the traffic of Tirana, headed for Fier, is using the Elbasani street”, added Balluku.

According to her, the Kashar-Lekaj axis is a completely new axis that passes through the area of Arbana, Ndroq and accesses Rrogozhina, giving the opportunity to drivers who want to go to the road section and are coming from the North, not to come close to Durrës and bypass Tirana, but go straight.
“There will be some solutions in the future in this process of regulating the national traffic. It will be regulated by the bypass of Tirana, which is an already approved project. We also received the grant for this project from WBF. We are in the final phase of coordination with donors, EIB and IBRD, and within 2024 the international competitive biddings will kick off for the construction of this bypass, which will be the regulator of this entire infrastructure,” the minister said.
