Albania expected to benefit one billion euros from EC growth plan

TIRANA, Jan 5 /ATA/ – The Minister of Finance and Economy Ervin Mete told a press conference on Friday that Albania is expected to benefit up to one billion euros in grants and soft loans from a new 6 billion euros growth plan launched last year by the European Commission for the Western Balkan countries.

“The growth plan recently introduced by the European Commission as an incentive to speed up the reform efforts and integration process will be accompanied by a significant financial package for all the Western Balkan countries, from which our country is expected to benefit up to one billion euros in grants and soft loans, in addition to the current assistance under the IPA Programme,” Finance Minister said at a press conference on performance of the country’s economy in 2023.

The new growth plan – Finance Minister went on saying – is designed to ring to the region some of the benefits of EU membership ahead of accession, boost economic growth and accelerate much-needed socio-economic convergence.
