Balla: MoI prepares changes in State Police law

TIRANA, Jan 4 /ATA/ Minister of Interior Taulant Balla, publishing the results achieved by the State Police during 2023, said that the ministry he runs in cooperation with partners has prepared some changes in the law on the State Police, which are aimed at promoting the career of law enforcement and security forces.

According to Balla, the primary goal of the changes is to energize the leadership team of the State Police and to improve the career in the State Police.

“We are crafting radical changes in the Law on the State Police, which are in the final stage, before the approval in the Government, to energize the Police leadership team and improve their careers”, emphasized Balla.

“During the year 2023, 607 girls and boys were admitted into “General Patrol,” 41 excellent students were admitted into Crime Investigation Faculty and 246 were admitted to the “Bachelor” studies at the Security Academy,” said Balla.

“The current Police force (men and women) numbers 9,592 members, of whom 991 girls/women and 8,601 men, not counting the civilian employees of the State Police. The average age is 47 years. There are currently 10,777 civilian and military employees working, of whom 1,630 are women/girls and 9,147 are men. The results achieved during the last months are only the beginning of the triumph of the rule of law on organized crime”, added Balla.

Balla said that “the fight against organized crime and improving public safety remain a top priority and the operations for dismantling criminal syndicates continues to ratchet up every day. Complex investigations in cooperation with SPAK or general jurisdiction prosecutors in the districts are dismantling groups involved with serious events, such as murder, or money laundering.”
