TIRANA, December 28 /ATA/ Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Igli Hasani stated today that Albania is ready for the Second Inter-governmental Conference with the EU.
During a press conference at the premises of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, on the balance sheet of diplomatic activity for 2023 and expectations of the next year, Hasani said that Albanian diplomacy in 2023 has experienced an unprecedented period of achievements and successes.
“In the last three years, Albania has played a leading role in the highest forums of international politics,” Hasani said.
The minister said that, “The mandate in the Security Council was given to us at a difficult time for international politics. However, we managed to produce a dignified and respected performance. Thanks to this performance, today we enjoy the respect and admiration of our partners”.
Hasani emphasized that, “Albania’s candidacy for the ECHR and UNESCO was massively supported”, and he added that, “Our rival was Russia”.
“In 2023, we made significant progress in the European integration process. Albania’s work in this direction has been evaluated as a model of success for the entire region”, said Hasani.
The minister underlined that, “Albania is ready today for the Second Inter-governmental Conference”, and he added that, “We expect good news at the beginning of 2024 regarding the negotiations with the EU”.
Also, Hasani emphasized that cooperation with the Albanian factor in the region is another achievement for the year that is coming to an end.
“Further on, the consolidation of cooperation with the Diaspora is a key priority for 2024”, he said.
Hasani added that, “Albania is proud of its increased contribution to regional processes”.
“The presidencies of the initiatives we take over in 2024 will help deepen cooperation and regional integration”, said the minister, while adding that economic diplomacy is the focus of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs for 2024.
Hasani underlined that, “The Foreign Service will work to attract as many projects and investments as possible”.
“We will work to promote as best as possible the opportunities that Albania offers. We are working on the design of the network of commercial attachés and the establishment of the Export Council,” he said.
Hasani said that, “The restructuring of the Foreign Service is also one of our priorities for 2024”./p.s./
