“Reestablishment” group protests before Presidency of the Assembly

TIRANA, Dec 15 /ATA/ The protest called by the “Reestablishment” group in the Democratic Party, led by Sali Berisha, was held on Monday in front of the Presidency of the Assembly, where the meeting of the Council of Mandates was being held to examine the request of SPAK to give authorization for the arrest of Berisha.

Addressing the protest considered as a follow-up to the civil disobedience action called by Berisha were MPs, his supporters.

“Sali Berisha is not an individual, he is the symbol, the epitome of Albanian democracy, of civility, of the courage of Albanians. That’s why we are standing here by the side of Sali Berisha,” Edi Paloka said.

Making a reference to the meeting of the Council of Mandates, “they are not seeking to strip Sali Berisha of immunity, but deprive us all of every right.”

Taking the floor at the protest, Berisha spoke about the meeting of the Council of Mandates. “This is the hardest evidence of a monist state, where the parliament, the prosecution, the police, the army, the intelligence service, are in the hands of one man, controlled by one man,” said Berisha.

Berisha said that civil disobedience will continue with a protest in front of the Assembly on Thursday.
