TIRANA, December 9/ATA/ On January 26, 2024, there will be opened in Tirana an exhibition dedicated to the golden boy of Italian football, Paolo Rossi, who pleased the hearts of Albanian fans in the 70s and 80s.
Some elements of this collection were presented today at the COD premises in the Premier’s Office, in the presence of Prime Minister Edi Rama, world football legend Arrigo Sacchi and Paolo Rossi’s wife Federica Cappelletti, director of the “Paolo Rossi” Foundation.
The prime minister appreciated that Paolo Rossi was a high personality who also had great courage.
Rama said that it is a great privilege that Tirana will welcome the exhibition and the collection of a great player of a team that in the dark years of communism in Albania has been a reference point of a world that was forbidden to us.
“I remember that when Italy was in the final against Germany, there was a group of young people who were part of the large, countless community of Italian fans in Albania and who went out into the streets with the Italian flag. This act was heresy in those years. We then found out about it the next day because they were arrested and tried for an act of high irresponsibility and for propaganda,” said Rama.
The prime minister informed that the exhibition on Paolo Rossi contains curiosities about personal objects. “It is about an exhibition with a historical character because it was full of memories and life”, he said.
Rama remembered the meeting in Tirana with Paolo Rossi when he was mayor and he came with the team of legends.
The prime minister expressed his conviction that the exhibition will be a memory and honor for this football history, as it brings the symbol of that great Italian national team which for us was more important than a football team.
“This exhibition, which has been opened in Zurich, but also in various Italian cities, will bring objects of Paolo, but also of great world legends such as Maradona, Pele, etc.,” said Rama.
The exhibition commemorating Paolo Rossi is organized by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the Italian embassy in Tirana.
The exhibition, which will open at the venues of the National Historical Museum and can be visited from January 26 to February 20, 2024, shows the life of Paolo Rossi and the legends of international football.
Between personal items, virtual reality, original T-shirts, interviews, the Golden Ball and the Golden Shoe 82, the visitor to the exhibition will be able to get in touch with one of the most valued athletes in the history of national and international football.
