TIRANA, Dec 6 /ATA/ – Albanian government adopted a new National Security Strategy for 2023-2028 at a regular cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
The Deputy Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Megi Fino said in a press statement after the cabinet meeting that the new security strategy is designed to consider in the most comprehensive way the main challenges and threats to the country’s national security.
“The strategy aims to reflect, in the most comprehensive way, the main challenges and threats to the National Security of our country, as well as the institutional responses for 2023-2028. This important strategic document follows the one adopted in 2014, which, due to the geopolitical developments in the last few years, no longer addresses the security challenges that country currently faces,” Fino stated.
The Deputy Minister that the national security strategy is a clear reflection of the country’s international political affiliation as a NATO member and a EU aspiring candidate, as well as the clear orientation towards actions in accordance with the analysis that has been made of the strategic security environment at a global, regional and national level.
