Rama: Constitutional Court has defined framework for setting up investigative commissions

TIRANA, November 14/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that, “The investigative commissions are set up at the request of the minority, but if the Constitution is not violated and there are clearly defined criteria that must be met so that a commission is set up”.

When asked about the establishment of investigative commissions requested by the opposition during a TV broadcast, Rama said that, “There are decisions of the Constitutional Court, which have clearly established the framework within which a Parliamentary commission can be approved. The Constitutional Court says that this right cannot be abused to undermine the activity of other institutions”.

PM Rama reminded that, “The opposition asked for the investigation of the elections and we accepted it immediately. They asked a commission for the incinerators and we accepted. The commission for incinerators had the greatest sensitivity. We allowed it because it fulfilled these conditions; it was a special issue; there were clear indications for investigation; it was within the constitutional framework, that’s why we accepted the request”, said Rama. /k.s/p.s./
