Balluku: 8 million euros saved by optimizing energy grid

TIRANA, Nov 6 /ATA/ Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, announced on Monday that the saving from the optimization of energy grid in 2023 alone is estimated at 8 million euros.

During a meeting with OSHEE employees, where she rolled out the wage reform in this sector, Balluku said that this figure translates into investments for grid optimization.

“The month of October marked a record figure, 113% of revenue collection, including debts that were carried over. Only in 2023 we managed to save 8 million euros, which translates into investments for grid optimization. We found the grid with a loss level of 45% and we reached the level of 18%. “ said Balluku.

According to the deputy prime minister, in the last 4 years the system has been affected by major challenges such as earthquake, pandemic and energy crisis.

“In these four years, we have tried to be prudent owing to the government’s decision to keep the price for customers unchanged. We had to put the brakes on investments, trying to sustain optimization and minimize technical losses through human resources, but without having opportunities for investments”, stated Balluku.
