TIRANA, November 1/ATA/ MP Blerina Gjylameti, at the same time chairwoman of the Israel-Albania Parliamentary friendship group, spoke about our country’s vote at the UN on the ceasefire resolution in Gaza Strip.
In an interview for the “Opinion” broadcast, Gjylameti stated that Albania supports the cessation of attacks in the Gaza Strip and allowing of the humanitarian corridors.
“Albania abstained because there was made an attempt to modify the resolution by introducing one or two elements which would help resolve the conflict. It is not only Albania that abstained; almost 45 countries abstained while seeking to achieve the same thing. Albania’s foreign policy must be aligned with the two strategic partners while the country is getting integrated into the EU. The abstention had two or three reasons which have been listed, while Albania, through our representative, the Foreign Minister at the UN, requested not only to have a cease-fire of attacks, but on the other hand to open humanitarian corridors. Israel voted against arguing that the fuel supply would go to Hamas”, stated Gjylameti.
MP Gjylameti underlined that the issue of the Gaza Strip deserves a permanent solution that will allow not only peace in Israel, but also the Palestinians to live freely./p.s./
