TIRANA, Oct 16 /ATA/ – The recent escalations in northern Kosovo have proved how important the cooperation between the Western Balkans and the European Union is, the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said.
“We must complete the implementation of the agreements reached through the normalization dialogue mediated by the EU,” Scholz said at today’s Berlin Process Summit in Tirana.
“Albania is well-known for its hospitality and this has been proven once again today, after the European Council meeting and numerous high-level and ministerial meetings within the Berlin process,” he said.
“At the last year meeting in Berlin, we all agreed that the Berlin Process is the best instrument not only to release the full potential of regional cooperation, but also to speed up the EU integration of all Western Balkan countries,” Scholz said.
“The Berlin Process is a forum aimed at improving cooperation. Russia’s war against Ukraine has once again shown how important it is to speak with one European voice and increase cooperation,” he said.
We are fully aware of the difficult security situation, after the aggression of Hamas against Israel and all its consequences. Even the multiple crises in the Western Balkans have highlighted the urgent need to improve cooperation and overcome antagonisms”, he said.
“I am very pleased that for the first time, the Berlin Process Summit is being held in a Western Balkan country. We should use this opportunity to focus on the main goal of the Western Balkans, their integration within the region and further progress in the path towards the EU,” Scholz said. //a.i/
