TIRANA, Oct 14 /ATA/ – The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Igli Hasani on Saturday attended an open forum “Unlocking Progress: The European Future of the Western Balkans.”
Foreign Minister Hasani stated in his remarks that strengthening strategic cooperation remains the only way for the region’s European integration. Hasani also focused on Albania’s proactive role in this respect.
“We also need to see the European Union’s tangible commitment to the reliability of our EU accession perspective. We are eagerly looking forward to opening the accession negotiations for the essential chapters at the Second Intergovernmental Conference by end of this year. This would send a significant credible signal for the region’s EU perspective,” he said.
The Albanian diplomacy chief said that role and involvement of the civil society organizations in economic growth, institutional reforms and the region’s convergence with the EU is also very essential.
