U.S. Embassy voices concern over threats of violence against law enforcement officials

TIRANA, Oct 4 /ATA/ – The United States Embassy in Tirana reacted Wednesday regarding recent threats against the law enforcement officials in Albania, stating “a justice system free of fear and intimidation is a rightful demand of the Albanian people.”

In a post on the social media, the U.S. Embassy stated it is “deeply concerned about the threats of violence against law enforcement officials who are working to make Albania safe, prosperous, and more democratic.”

According to the Embassy, investigators, prosecutors, and judges must be able to carry out their duties without threats or intimidation.

“The United States affirms its unwavering support for Albania’s law enforcement officials bravely fighting corruption and organized crime and stands ready to support their efforts,” the Embassy said in its statement.
