TIRANA, Sept 16 /ATA/ – Tirana local government authorities commemorated the 81st anniversary of the Conference of Peza, a WWII anti-fascist event, with a ceremony that took place in the village of Peza, Tirana, on Saturday.
Members of the Veterans Committee, as well as local residents attended the event hosted by Tirana Municipality to commemorate this milestone event in history of Albania and Albanians.
“The emblematic date, September 16, holds a significant importance for all of us Albanians, because it marks the day when Peza returned to the heart of unification of all the then forces and political factors in Albania,” Tirana Deputy Mayor Andi Seferi said in his remarks.
The Socialist Party lawmaker Toni Gogu underlined that young boys and girls came together and joined forces to fight together the then menace, Nazi-fascism and the darkest powers humanity had ever experienced.
Already a tradition, Tirana Municipality has organized “Peza N’Fest23” with sport activities, an open air concert. Peza‘n Fest hosts Albanian and international artists who are happy to exhibit in a very beautiful, but very underrated location.
The festival is a superb event to discover one of the least visited regions of the country and to taste high-quality traditional food prepared for the event.
Peza’s Conference took place on September 16, 1942, and it aimed to unify various political forces to fight against Italy.
