TIRANA, Aug 31 /ATA/ – The Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu confirmed on Thursday that supplies of seasonal influenza vaccines have been already procured and delivered to the country.
Health Minister Manastirliu discussed the preparatory measures to cope with the upcoming seasonal flu during a meeting with Public Health Institute experts and Infectious Diseases Hospital doctors.
Manastirliu said that over 270,000 seasonal flu shots have been already procured and will be delivered to healthcare centres across the country to be administered to the high risk groups, people with disabilities and chronic illness.
“We are pursuing a plan of measures already part of the national and annual measures aimed at protecting the citizens’ life and health. Measures are in place to strengthen the surveillance network, expand digital systems pertaining to the aspects of monitoring the epidemiological situation and vaccination,” Health Minister said.
“We have procured more than 270,000 seasonal influenza vaccine doses for the high risk and vulnerable categories and the Public Health Institute is working to make sure that the vaccines are available in early autumn,” Manastirliu said.
