TIRANA, Aug 24 /ATA/ The spokesperson of the Democratic Party, Mirela Karabina, said that “today it is more necessary than ever to get through parliament the law on the vetting of politicians, as well as a legal package to fight government crime and corruption.”
The latter, according to her, “will remove any obstacles and give unconditional support to SPAK and the justice bodies to crack down on corruption and seize the ill-gotten assets.”
“For 8 years in a row, Prime Minister Rama and the government led by him have stood up for the waste incineration policy and the ‘big’ projects of this government in this sector. These projects, which were proven through SPAK investigations, to be corruption schemes designed, directed and administered by the highest levels of the government hierarchy, have cost Albanian citizens 450 million euros,”
Karabina said in a media statement.
Referring to some data obtained by the Democratic Party, Karabina stated that “it turns out that Ilir Beqja, another senior government official who is expected to bear personal responsibility at the helm of the State Agency for Strategic Programming and Aid Coordination (SASPAC), which is under Prime Minister Rama, has proposed to the government two projects for the regions of Elbasan and Fier.”
