Exports to UK increase by about 3 times

TIRANA, August 24/ATA/ Albanian exports to the United Kingdom have increased by almost 3 times in the January-July period of the current year if compared to the same period last year.

Referring to the report published by the Institute of Statistics, the exports to the UK reached 3.4 billion ALL at the end of the 7th month of this year, from 1.2 billion ALL that were recorded in the 7th month period of 2022.

Unlike exports, imports recorded growth at lower rates. According to statistics, they went to up 4.8 billion ALL at the end of the 7th month, from 4.4 billion ALL that were for the same period of 2022.

After Brexit, Albania signed at the beginning of 2021 a partnership, trade and cooperation agreement with the United Kingdom.

The agreement ensures that goods originating from the United Kingdom and from Albania benefit from the same reciprocal preferential tariff treatment as they enjoyed when the United Kingdom was part of the European Union.

Referring to official analyzes and data, there is still an untapped potential of trade relations between the two countries. /p.s./
