PRISTINA, Aug 9 /ATA/ – Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated a regular cabinet meeting on Wednesday that the country should overhaul its justice system and vetting of judges and prosecutors was the only solution.
Kurti said that a number of individuals with criminal records remain at large and are free because of the failure of justice system to act and deliver justice.
The government head noted that credible local and international reports focus on the inefficient and slow justice.
The Premier stated that the level of citizens’ trust in the justice bodies remains the lowest compared to other institutions. Citing the UNDP and USAID reports, he said that only 29% of Kosovo citizens are satisfied with performance of the justice system.
According to him, the justice system reform and vetting process are the only solution.
