TIRANA, July 28 /ATA/ 80 new officers will be added to the Armed Forces of Albania. After the successful completion of their studies at the Academy of the Armed Forces, they received the title in a special ceremony. Attending were Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Arben Kingji, generals, directors and family members.
In his speech, Minister Peleshi praised these young people who chose military education, not an easy challenge, as he put it, but a choice based on values, patriotism and the nation.
The Minister of Defense also positively assessed the work done at the Academy of the Armed Forces for training of the young people who choose to become part of the Armed Forces. “We intend to turn this academy into a center for training the new generation of young officers, the best future leaders at the national level,” he stated.
For the academic year 2023-2024, there will also open bachelor programs in “International Relations in the Field of Defense” and “Communication Science in the Field of Defense”, programs which, according to the minister, rely on a model borrowed from the US Military Academy West Point.
Further on, during his speech, the minister said that, “As a NATO member country, these officers will be able to lead effective teams fully capable of supporting joint and multinational operations”.
Peleshi also emphasized that, “The Albanian government has decided to respond the challenges of the time through an increased attention, offering a complex support package that includes modernization, salary increases, special financial treatment for difficult tasks as well as housing support for officers who serve away from home”. /p.s./
