TIRANA, July 27 / ATA/ Minister of Interior, Taulant Balla, inspected the wildfire hotspots in the area of Lushnja. During the inspection,
Balla said that arson is a criminal offense. He also called on the prosecution to propose punishments to the full extent permitted by law.
“Arson is a serious crime! The State Police have identified, detained and declared wanted many persons involved in arson. All cases have been referred to the prosecutor’s office! Punishment to the full extent permitted by law for anyone involved in arson,” Balla emphasizes.
“In many areas of Albania, in many other parts of the territory, the police have detained a significant number of people involved in arson, either related to agriculture or for other reasons intentionally. My appeal is that everyone should understand that we will be very tough. I also appeal to the Prosecutor’s Office, to propose harsh punishments for the cases referred by the Police,” Balla concluded.
