Work agreement after graduation, but students of medicine protest in front of Assembly

TIRANA, July 20/ATA/ The Assembly is set to approve the draft law on “Special treatment of students of medicine in the public institutions of higher education”, while the students staged a protest in front of the Parliament, calling it a violation of their basic rights, such as the right to be free to choose where they want to practice their profession.

Through this draft law, the government legally confirms the obligation for medical students to work at least 2-5 years after graduation in Albania, or otherwise pay an amount of money equal to the cost of their education.

Minister of Education Evis Kushi has stated that this law aims to encourage would-be doctors to contribute to the health system of the Republic of Albania. /p.s./
