TIRANA, June 27/ATA/- Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi was in Jerusalem today where he remembered the 6 million Jews who fell victims to Nazism, otherwise known as the victims of the Holocaust.
From the memorial for the victims of the Holocaust, Yad Vashem, in Jerusalem, Minister Peleshi extended a call for such events never to happen again.
“With humility and respect in honor of the 6 million Jews and other communities, victims of Nazism. Proud to represent Albania here, a shining example that welcomed and protected the Jewish people. The only European country with more Jews after World War II than before,” wrote Peleshi on social media.
“Let’s not forget, remember, eradicate anti-Semitism and hatred and vow that we will never repeat history – never again!” urged Minister of Defense Peleshi.
The Holocaust was the genocide of European Jews during World War II. Between 1941 and 1945, Nazi Germany and its collaborators systematically murdered an estimated six million Jews throughout German-occupied Europe, about two-thirds of Europe’s Jewish population./p.s./
