TIRANA, June 16 /ATA/ Kukës Mayor Safet Gjici resigned today after a sex scandal.
In a reaction on social media, Gjici apologized deeply to anyone who, according to him, saw that ugly video material spread today.
“After a difficult election campaign and confrontation with my opponents, after which I emerged victorious, unfortunately I fell into a trap prepared by the same people I faced in the elections. I am very sorry for the incident. For some time now, I have had an intimate relationship with the girl in question, but of course I have no excuse for what happened in the office despite being trapped”, Gjici emphasized.
Gjici said that, “I can no longer be the person who works in that state office, as I have betrayed the trust of those thousands of people who believed and worked with me to make Kukës an increasingly better city”.
