TIRANA, May 20 /ATA/ Beekeeping is one of the important sectors of the economy, which has marked a significant development in recent years.
The Agricultural and Rural Development Agency (ARDA), since 2009, has continuously supported this sector, through the National Support Scheme, but also the IPARD program.
Today there are about 400,000 beehives across the country, where in the last 10 years alone the number of hives has increased by 64%, significantly impacting the level of production.
In 2022, 2,681 beekeepers were financed thanks to the National Support Scheme, while through the IPARD program, investment was made in processing lines, packaging, as well as warehouses for product storage, targeting not only the domestic market but also the foreign one.
The line authorities express their confidence that the support of this sector, beyond the positive effect on increasing its economic performance, delivers yet more important and strategic impact on the economic performance of the entire agricultural sector in the country.
