TIRANA, May 5/ATA/ General Secretary of the Socialist Party Damian Gjiknuri held a meeting today with President of the “Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung” Foundation Martin Schulz, who is on an official visit in Tirana.
In a statement to the media after the meeting, Gjiknuri said that the, “Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung” Foundation is working on the challenges that Albania is going through in this period.
“Schulz is one of the great personalities of German politics; he was the former President of the European Parliament, leader of the left social-democratic groups, he is a close collaborator of the Socialist Party, the Albanian government, a friend of ours. We are working together with the “Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung” Foundation regarding foreign policy, the challenges that Albania is going through in this period, what the Western Balkans is going through and even to promote cooperation at all European levels”, he said.
Gjiknuri informed that, “Together with the “Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung” Foundation, we are preparing to hold a big conference about the progressive left and ideas for the left, especially with a focus on the European Union and the challenges faced by the Western Balkans”.
On his part, the president of the “Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung” Foundation highly appreciated the work done in Albania, the political developments and those related to the European Union./p.s./
