Alibeaj meets Escobar: DP keeps constant stance on non-grata people

TIRANA, April 12/ATA/ The acting Chairman of the Democratic Party Enkelejd Alibeaj held a meeting today with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary for European Affairs, and the Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar.

In a post on social networks, Alibeaj wrote that the meeting focused on the election campaign and the preparation of the DP for the May 14 local elections.

“During the conversation, we touched on important topics of recent developments, where we focused on the DP’s preparations for the election campaign and the issues of these elections. I emphasized the government’s refusal to address ODHIR’s recommendations in the Electoral Code. In addition, I informed him of the violation that is currently occurring by the government of ODHIR’s recommendations, related to the buying and selling of votes, the use of public administration in campaigns, the use of personal data and the state budget in the function of elections, and especially related to the cleanliness of the figure of the candidates”, he said.

Also, Alibeaj wrote that, “The topic of the conversation was the developments in the Democratic Party, the dynamics of the last few months and the constant attitude towards the issue of “non grata” persons, not only in the DP, but in the entire spectrum of Albanian politics”.

“I assured Mr. Escobar of DP’s willingness to cooperate with our main ally, considering the USA as a committed supporter of Albania and Albanians,” Alibeaj emphasized. /gj.m/r.e/p.s./
