Rama: Fierce competition for workforce

TIRANA, April 7 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama reiterated his appeal on the private sector to invest in human capital by increasing the salaries.

During the launch of the Farmer’s Portal, Rama said that “we have come to the phase where the fight for human resources and young work is becoming more and more fierce and the competition is growing more intense.

“When I say competition among all the countries, I mean from large, powerful, rich Germany to Albania, which is not that big, powerful and rich. The need to pertain human capital, the workforce is the top priority for you and everyone who has even two employees, be it in the public sector or in the private sector,” he said.

According to him, “the government is making a historic salary increase that has never happened, bringing the average salary in Albania to 900 euros, which is almost twice as high the average salary.”

“The private sector has started to react, but not enough and not properly, while time runs very fast in this direction. The people that you’ve trained, that you’ve coached, should not be taken for granted. Do not rest assured that you’ll have them there every morning when you go to work if you don’t pay them properly. The time when people could work here at the wages that have been paid so far is gone.
Higher wages are needed and a new sacrifice is needed,” he said.

Rama said that by taking such a step, the enterprise gains the security of the workforce and then by further developing the enterprise, technological and other capacities, it can enter a new profit cycle.
