TIRANA, March 28/ATA/- Director of National Agency for Information Society (AKSHI) Linda Karçanaj stated that the digitization path that Albania has started with rapid steps, will be uninterrupted and irreversible, until the full digitization of the work processes of the administration, respecting the laws, standards and ICT structures, throughout the design, implementation and improvement of digital services.
Karçanaj made the statement in Brussels during the Bilateral Meeting held at the European Commission where in context of the integration process, Albania reports on Chapter 10: Information Society and Media.
“Albania is today a success story in the region. It is considered a leading country in the Western Balkans in terms of the digitalization of public services. Applications for electronic services and documents with an electronic stamp have doubled in 2022 compared to 2021. The reason for this increase is simple: the ease and trust that e-Albania offers. Only by removing the fees that the citizens paid until a few years ago, there have been saved about 9 million Euros. Eliminating queues has saved 1,000 years of waiting. The data show that e-Albania itself has destroyed prejudices. Young and old people easily use e-Albania and, apart from them, other social groups with less access to technology, such as farmers. e-Albania is used by everyone, regardless of age, status, gender, or economic opportunities, and everyone is served in the same way”, emphasized Karçanaj.
Furthermore, Karçanaj added that the report of the European Commission on the progress of Albania for 2022 has positively assessed the Digital Agenda 2022-2026 and the progress in electronic services, as well as the approval of the law on Electronic Document, Electronic Identification and Trusted Services in Electronic Business, fully harmonizing the country’s legal basis with the EU IDAS Regulation./p.s./
