TIRANA, March 27/ATA/ Minister of Finance and Economy Delina Ibrahimaj stated today that the minimum salary will continue to increase over the next 2 years, to reach 45,000 Lekë in 2025, from 26,000 Lekë in 2013.
“Beginning from April 1, the minimum salary will increase to 40,000 Lekë. Our challenge is to increase the average salary, too. Albania must move into another standard. If in 2000, we were an attractive market, as we had a low-paid workforce, today we must become competitive for qualified workforce. If the qualified employees leave the company where they have worked for years, they take with them a load of experience. Therefore, they must be motivated by the salary, but also the dignified conditions of treatment and infrastructure improvement”, said the minister during a gathering today at the Fital Sh.p.k company in Kamza where Prime Minister Edi Rama was also attending.
She said that the business itself has become aware that employees should be valued and paid more. According to her, there are many companies that have exceeded the level set by the government of 40,000 lekë for the minimum salary.
In the manufacturing industry, there are numbered 8,500 companies at the end of 2022. The total number of employees is estimated at 88,452, or 12.7% of the total number of employees in the country./gj.m/p.s./
