TIRANA, March 9 /ATA/ The Office of the Commissioner for the Right to Information and Protection of Personal Data in partnership with the Albanian Center for Sustainable Development (ASDO), with the support of the Swiss Embassy in Tirana, organized the 3rd activity under the project “Cyber security and protection of data.”
This informative roundtable brought together representatives and data protection officers from public institutions or private entities that exercise their activity in the health system.
The purpose of this activity is to increase the awareness of the controllers operating in this sector about the obligations and responsibilities stemming from the implementation of the legislation on protection of personal data, including the novelties in the framework of its alignment with the acquis.
The Commissioner’s Office was represented in this activity by Besa Velaj, director of the Cabinet, who briefed the attendees on the regulatory specificities for the health system, as well as the supervisory activity of the authority.
The expert in the field, Emirjon Marku, in his presentation, touched on the legal framework and practical examples from this sector, from the perspective of respecting the rights of citizens in health treatment or the provision of various services.
In the digital era, the legal processing of personal data is related to the creation and updating of appropriate mechanisms in terms of the security of equipment and systems, but also in the interaction between links and structures of the health institution.
