Abazovic:  Today we sent message of building our common future

TIRANA, Feb  27 /ATA/ The governments of Albania and Montenegro held Monday in Podgorica the second joint meeting, which was followed by the signing of a series of agreements between the two countries, including the one for the construction of the bridge across the Buna River.

At the joint press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama, the Prime Minister of Montenegro Dritan Abazovic said that a beautiful message comes from Podgorica, that of cooperation in the common future that will be built on economic development.

“Today we got a beautiful message across, the message of cooperation and building a common future based on economic cooperation. It will be the most powerful cooperation across all segments when we talk about the two governments,” he said.

Abazovic singled out the project for the construction of the bridge across Buna as the most important to be developed between the two countries.

“Prime Minister Rama took several steps to enable unimpeded movement over the Buna River. After the Second World War, this shipping line between Ulcinj and Shkodra ceased operations. We want to restore this line between Montenegro and Albania after 70-80 years,” Abazovic said.

According to him, the construction of this bridge will also serve the development of tourism between Albania and Montenegro.

“I am proud that we have signed the agreement on the Buna bridge,” which will not only connect the two countries but also spur tourism. Our aim is to enable easier access for citizens, minimize traffic as much as possible as well as bring a new perspective to development of the area,” he said.

Abazovic expressed his government’s readiness to step up cooperation in every field.

“We want to do everything in every segment, including healthcare, defense, agriculture, we simply want to say that Montenegro and Albania see great prospect of cooperation and mutual relations between the two countries. We are dedicated to the future in European integration, they see their common future in the EU and we want to get this message across here,” he said.
