Balla: No retreat from fiscal amnesty

TIRANA, Feb  20 /ATA/- By Maela Marini/ The chairman of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, stated on Monday that, “there is no retreat from the initiative for the fiscal amnesty.”

In a media briefing from the seat of the Parliament Presidency, Balla said that, in the meantime, communication has continued with the experts of the EU delegation in Tirana and those of the EC to thrash out the final details on the steps of this fiscal amnesty in Albania in the opinion of the EC.

“For our part, there is no retreat from the much needed initiative to make sure that after 30 years of transition, and as we get ready for a new journey, Albania will break with the transition. All the countries that have gone through such a phase, such as Italy and Greece, have undertaken fiscal amnesty that is related to the transition to another phase. History has shown that it is a necessity,” he said.

Balla also spoke about the meeting of US Ambassador Yuri Kim with the chairmen of the three parliamentary commissions a few days ago.

“There was a meeting with the chairs of the three parliamentary committees, the Foreign Committee, the Integration Committee and the Economy and Finance Committee in the framework of a visit of senior officials of State Department responsible for economic issues. In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of US companies showing interest in Albania. I remember, not only the investments in the strategic energy sector with the Bechtel project, which increases the energy independence of Albania with Skavica, but also other projects in other fields,” said Balla.
