Margariti holds discussions with 4 finalist studios on Visitor Center in Butrint

TIRANA, February 16/ATA/ Minister of Culture Elva Margariti met in Tirana the representatives of the 4 finalist studios, from which the winning project of the Visitor Center in Butrint will emerge. The four finalist studios are “Kengo Kuma & Associates” from Japan, “Philippe PROST / AAPP” from France, “Lahdelma & Mahlamäki Architects” from Finland and “William Matthews Associates” from the United Kingdom.

After many discussions and Q&A (Questions-and-Answers) about how this new building will integrate and merge with the landscape, the architects traveled to Butrint, where they got acquainted with the terrain and the characteristics of this site, on the UNESCO world heritage list.

This will be a dignified center, where the visitor will find not only services, but also information and a corner dedicated to artisans. The Butrint experience will start from this center.

The Ancient City of Butrint, or with the ancient name Buthrotum, lies in the southwest of Albania, 20 km south of the port of Saranda./p.s./
