Rama: IT engineers in public sector, higher salaries than in private sector

TIRANA, February 9/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama said today that the government is considering an alternative salary pyramid in terms of special professional and technical skills, starting with technology.

During a meeting with students benefiting from the new scholarship program, which is equal to a minimum monthly salary, Rama said that, “The state cannot help being the strongest competitor in the market when it comes to high-tech human resources “.

“So, we must and will offer our young people the opportunity to join the public sector and serve as high-tech engineers at various levels with equally or even better salaries than the private sector”, he said.

“We can’t make them work 12 hours a day, if we can’t offer them salaries, which are competitive with those of the private sector at least, and thus for other professions”, he said.

The prime minister emphasized that, “Albania is entering another phase in terms of salaries, in terms of rewarding skills, but the private sector is also entering the same phase”.

“If you look at the private sector, there is a significant movement towards increasing salaries because the private sector is realizing that in order to keep qualified human resources here, it has to be much more competitive in terms of salaries, and then also competitive in terms of productivity”, he added.

Rama expressed his conviction that, “Albania will come more and more to the level that more people will want to return here”.

“Albania is a country that will be the champion of this region for tourism, for exports in agriculture, in the field of energy, a net exporter of energy and which of course will always be a beautiful country, where people will always be more and more convinced that here there are enough things to make them smile,” he said./r.e/p.s./
