DP lawmaker: PM Rama commissioned FBI agent to bring an indictment against DP

TIRANA, Jan 25 /ATA/ –By I. Vata/ – The Democratic Party lawmaker Oriola Pampuri accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of efforts to tarnish the reputation of the main opposition party back in 2017 when DP was headed by Lulzim Basha through the Russian funding allegations.

Pampuri said in a press statement that “the United States Justice Department revealed to the public Edi Rama’s operation to tarnish the reputation of the Democratic Party and its leader Lulzim Basha in 2017.″

“Now that the US diplomacy spoke out, it is time for the Albanian justice also to speak without further delay. It is now time for the Albanian citizens to see for themselves the determination, independence and the impartiality of the reformed justice, now that the legal evidence is certified by the United States justice,” she said.

Pampuri went on saying that “the Voice of America told Albanians a day ago that shortly after the general elections in 2017, Edi Rama, through the mediation of Agron Neza and Dorian Duçka, commissioned the FBI agent, Charles McGonigal to launch an investigation and indictment against the DP and Rama’s political rival, Lulzim Basha.”

The former chairman of the DP Lulzim Basha has denied reports that the party received funds from Russia during the run-up to the 2017 general election, following accusations made by international media.
