DP spokeswoman: INSTAT data show Albania’s overinflated public administration

TIRANA, Jan 5 /ATA/ –By I. Vata/ – Main opposition Democratic Party (DP) claimed Thursday that thousands of Socialist Party activists and militants have taken up jobs in the public administration in a bid to boost the government’s chances in the upcoming mayoral elections in Albania, due to take place in May.

The DP spokeswoman Floriana Garo said in a press statement that data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) show that 22,000 more individuals have been employed in the public administration.

According to Garo, “this is a red alarm for the local elections, because every new job position is an weapon for Rama government to win elections through violence.”

Garo noted that the latest INSTAT data, the governmental institute of statistics, show an alarming figure about Albania’s overinflated state administration by the centre-left government of the Prime Minister Edi Rama.

“The public administration, both at central and local level has increased by over 22,000 employees since 2014. They who think that these are wages for the Albanian families are wrong. These are bonuses provided as reward to the so-called patronage system members, the predatory guardians of the local and assembly elections in the Rama electoral state. Party militants are part of  this group of 22,000 employees, who receive their monthly wages, even they might be working and living abroad,” Garo said.
