Rama: Albania, shining example of respect for communities

TIRANA, Dec 22 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Thursday that “we have started the process of transforming Vjosa into a National Park, and on the other hand we have asked Greece to join us, because Vjosa has its estuary on the other side of the border.”

In a media statement, during his visit to Dropull and after the meeting with the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Rama said that this project will become a spectacular example in terms of the environment and the transformation of such a precious environmental asset into a source of economy causing no harm to the environment.

Pressed about the acceleration of agreement between the two parties to take the sea agreement to The Hague as soon as possible, Rama said that “it is a process that goes through a constitutional and legal procedure and as such we need to follow it.”

In reply to the journalists whether he has discussed constitutionality with President Begaj, Rama said that “no, this will happen once the request is filed based on legal and constitutional procedures.”

Asked about the government’s future commitment to the minority community, Rama said that “Albania is a shining example of respect for communities either from the point of view of legislation or from the point of view of fact, however it is never enough, so we will continue to work closely with this community as we have been working. Fortunately, the minister who is also the head of the district here, has formed a close bond with the community, we also have an exemplary mayor here, so we have all the conditions to do the best and implement other projects this area.”
