Osmani: EU should walk the walk with regard to visa liberalization with Kosovo

TIRANA, Dec  6 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani stated on Tuesday in Tirana that she firmly believes that the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue led by the EU and fully supported by the US is the only way to move towards a final agreement focused on mutual recognition.

In a media statement before the EU-Western Balkans summit, Osmani said that “Kosovo has shown commitment to the EU in every action it has taken, especially when it comes to 100% alignment with the EU in every foreign policy.”

“We need the EU to walk the walk, especially when it comes to visa liberalization  for citizens of Kosovo. Kosovo will submit the application for EU accession by the end of this year and we strongly hope for the full support of the EU member states,” she said.

According to her, “staying on the right side of history today is the least that should be expected from us.”

“Unfortunately, Vucic is acting in the followup to a mindset that existed in the 90s in Serbia and it is this mindset that led to war and destruction. A mindset that should be rejected by all. What Kosovo is showing these days is the opposite of what Vucic is showing, we are extending the hand of cooperation even though they have never apologized for the crimes they committed,” she said.

Osmani assessed that this summit is a very important undertaking from both the EU and the Western Balkans. /j.p/sm/
