TIRANA, Dec. 6 /ATA/ – The President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nauseda stated on Monday that Lithuania has always been a supporter of the European enlargement process.
Nauseda met Prime Minister Edi Rama, who is welcoming the participants in the run-up to the EU-Western Balkans Summit, the first of its kind to take place in the region.
“At this summit, we welcome unshakable stand on Russian aggression in Ukraine, as well as full harmonization with the EU’s common foreign policy and the very clear attitudes on the block’s sanctions against Russia”, he said.
“I welcome the progress made so far in the integration process. Peaceful neighborliness is of great importance, as one of the necessary prerequisites. I look forward to seeing the progress of the aspirant countries and perhaps a decision at the European Council meeting in December”, Nauseda said.
“Currently, there is less attempts of illegal crossings between the border of Lithuania and Belarus, but you never know, hybrid attacks are most likely to occur and there is potential for illegal crossings of migrants”, he added. //a.i/
